I have been working for Sir Paul McCartney’s tour photographer for last 14 years and very lucky to met Mark Montgomery and Gareth in 2019 when I was getting ready to make my 1st film, Juicy Girl. I did not have any connection or experience in film industry at that time, so I was desperate to meet any kind of professional who can give me some tips “how to make a film”.

I met Mark at my photo exhibition in Singapore in 2019, I mentioned to Mark that I was in the process of developing a story about a prostitute who killed by American soldier which happened in Korea, 1992.

Mark introduced me to Gareth and gareth sent me 16 min script in less than a week! Mark had full of ideas for film making process and it was such a joy to work with Mark & Gareth. Even though I did not have any previous film making experience, we made 16 min short film Juicy Girl and it received more than 60 awards at short film festivals in all around the globe.

I first working with Gareth almost 30 years ago when he was script editor/storyliner on popular cult U.K. soap Brookside and I was a Rookie director. We bonded over our love of story, especially popular storytelling that connects with a large audience and has the capacity to move people in unexpected ways.

We continued to say in touch as our careers developed on parallel paths. Gareth took his passion for story to all corners of the globe, creating shows, reformatting shows and reviving shows, very sensitive to the cultural expectations of the local market while insisting on rigorous adherence to basic storytelling principles. What is the story about? How does the character develop in a credible and accessible way? Does each story beat earn its place in keeping the audience engaging and moving forward?

Gareth was always a great storyliner and editor as well as a great team leader but increasingly he has focused on writing and creating shows himself. We reconnected in the last 3 years, and I commissioned a series development from Gareth for HBO. It was a great idea and was a perfect addition to our slate. We had a strong concept, great storylines and 2 promising scripts but now HBO is withdrawinfg from the local market in Central Europe. I hope the show finds another life elsewhere.

Gareth is very well read with a great knowledge of history as well as an encyclopaedic knowledge of TV shows. I continue to discuss ideas with Gareth and look forward to our next project together.
